Frames and connections

Frames

A frame is a named area that groups cards, such as Evidence, Open questions or Chapter 3.

  • Make a frame around cards: select them and choose Add Frame.
  • Put a card in a frame: right-click it and choose Add to Frame, then pick the frame, or New frame from selection.
  • Take cards out: right-click and choose Remove from Frame. The cards and their connections stay on the board.
  • Fit frame resizes a frame snugly around its cards.

Moving a frame moves the cards inside it. Resizing a frame doesn't move them. Frames take colours like cards.

Connections

Connections show how two ideas relate: one causes, supports or contradicts another.

  • Hover a card to see a small handle on each side. Drag from a handle to another card to connect them.
  • Drag from a handle into empty space to create a new text card already connected.
  • Or select two cards and use Connect.

Give a connection a label to say what the relationship is. Choose its arrow direction (one way, both ways or none), line style (solid, dashed or dotted), weight and colour.

Colour legend

Colours mean whatever you decide. Open the Colour legend and name them, such as green for supports, red for challenges, blue for method. The legend stays with the board, so the meaning is there when you come back.
