Book details and covers

Good details make everything else work better: search, Domains, Collection rules and Library filters all use them.

Right-click a book or paper and choose Edit metadata….

What you can edit

  • Content type and category: book, research paper or document, and the kind (for example Textbook or Preprint).
  • Title, authors and abstract.
  • Tags, subjects and topics, which place the book in Domains and let Collection rules find it.
  • Publication details: year, language, publisher, series, DOI and venue.

A small label beside each field says where its value came from, such as the file itself or your own edit. Your own edits are never overwritten by later lookups.

Fill details in for you

  • Fetch Metadata looks the book up and shows what it found, so you can choose what to keep.
  • Generate AI Metadata asks your AI model to suggest details from the book's text. Suggestions wait for you to review them.

Change the cover

Choose Change Cover to use a different image. PDFs get a cover from their first page when they arrive. Your original file is never changed.
