Turn off sync on this device
Turning off sync gives this computer its own complete copy of your library and switches it to Local mode. It changes this computer only: your account's library and your other devices carry on syncing as before, and you stay signed in.
You need a connection, so Xandria can collect everything from your account, including notes you haven't opened on this computer.
Turn it off
- Open Settings → Account. Under Sync across devices it says Sync is on.
- Choose Disable Sync on this device… and pick a folder for your book files.
- Xandria prepares your Local library while you keep working:
- Notes, Canvas boards, Wiki pages and attachments are copied and verified.
- Books are copied into the folder you chose. Books already on this computer aren't downloaded again.
- When it says Your Local library is ready to finish, choose Finish in Local mode.
Finishing saves your latest changes, verifies a final copy and switches. Editing pauses for that last step only.
Large libraries
Downloading every book can take a while. Once your notes and boards have verified, you can choose Finish without remaining books. Books that weren't copied stay in your library, with their highlights and notes, marked unavailable.
Cancel preparation stops and keeps sync on. If preparation stops on its own, for example when the connection drops, choose Retry preparation.
After the switch
- This computer no longer sends or receives changes. Edits you make on other devices stay in your account.
- Your book files are in the folder you chose, outside Xandria's cache, so signing out or clearing caches doesn't remove them.
- Sharing isn't available in Local mode.
To sync again later, turn on sync. Your account already has a library, so you'll be offered Merge libraries.
