First launch and sign in

The first time you open Xandria, the Welcome screen offers two ways to start. Neither one uploads anything.

ChoiceWhat you get
Sign In (or Create an account)Your library belongs to your Xandria account. Turn on sync when you want it on your other devices.
Use without an accountA library on this computer only. No account, no connection needed. You can sign in later.

Everything in Xandria works either way: reading, highlights, Notes, Canvas, Collections, search and AI. Sync and sharing need an account.

Use without an account

Choose Use without an account and your library opens straight away. Add books from folders on this computer; Xandria reads them where they are and never changes them. See Local mode.

Sign in or create an account

  1. Choose Sign In, or Create an account if you're new.
  2. Your browser opens the Xandria sign-in page. Sign in there.
  3. The browser tells you when you're done. Go back to Xandria.

What opens next depends on what you already have:

  • Your account already has a synced library (you turned on sync on another computer): it opens here directly.
  • Your account has no library yet: you get an empty library on this computer, with sync off. Turn on sync whenever you're ready.
  • You've been using Xandria without an account on this computer: Xandria asks what to do with that library. See below.

Next time you open Xandria, it reopens your library as you left it, even without a connection.

Already using Xandria without an account?

When you sign in for the first time on a computer that already has a library, Xandria asks: Use this library with your account? Sync stays off either way.

  • Add to my account: your books, notes and reading progress become part of your account on this computer. Nothing is copied or uploaded.
  • Keep it separate: start your account with an empty library. The library you had stays on this computer, untouched, for when you sign out.

Cancel sign-in leaves everything as it was.

After signing in, Xandria asks whether to add this computer's library to the account or keep it separate. After signing in, Xandria asks whether to add this computer's library to the account or keep it separate.

Waiting for sync access

A new account can sign in and use a library on this computer before sync is switched on for it. Settings → Account then says your account is waiting, and Check sync access looks again. Your library keeps working in the meantime.

Sign out

Open Settings → Account and choose Sign out. Xandria saves your work, closes your library and returns to the Welcome screen.

Signing out never deletes anything. Your account's library stays on this computer, sync on or off as you left it, and opens again when you sign back in. The library you use without an account is kept separately; choose Use without an account to return to it.

One library is open at a time. To switch between your account and the library without an account, sign out first.

Your own server

If your organization runs its own Xandria server, choose Advanced on the Welcome screen, enter the server's address and choose Connect. Then sign in as usual.
