How Teams work
A Team is a shared library for a group: a lab, a study group or a reading circle. Everyone in the Team reads the same books, and shares the Notes and Canvas boards they choose to.
Shared and private
| Shared with the Team | Stays yours |
|---|---|
| The Team library: every book added to it | Your reading progress and bookmarks |
| Notes and boards someone shares with the Team | Your highlights and book notebooks |
| One storage pool for the whole Team | Notes and boards you haven't shared |
| Your Personal library and your other Teams |
Your Personal library is separate from every Team. Joining a Team doesn't upload it, and switching to a Team doesn't change it. See Switch between Personal and a Team.
Roles
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Manage the Team's payment, Admins and invitations, add books and curate the library. One per Team. |
| Admin | Invite Readers and Librarians, change their roles and remove them. |
| Librarian | Add books and curate the Team library, its details and covers. |
| Reader | Read the Team library and keep their own notes, boards, lists and reading progress. |
No role can open another member's private writing. Anyone can edit a Note or board that's shared with them as Editor.
Paying
The Owner pays one monthly price for the whole Team, and the Owner counts as one of its people. Members don't need a subscription of their own. See Pricing and Team billing and locked Teams.
